Doing an end of tenancy clean yourself can be a time-consuming task, but with the right plan and checklist, you can ensure you leave the property in great condition and get your deposit back. Here's a detailed checklist to help guide you through the process:

Key Tips:

  • Oven Cleaning: Even if you buy professional cleaning products, it can be difficult to clean properly and restore it to its original state. Therefore, it may be worth hiring a professional for this task, as they have the tools and expertise to get the job done effectively.

  • Pay Attention to Detail: It can be difficult to notice dirty areas without an objective eye, so we compiled a list of areas many people don't know may need cleaning.

  • Start Early: Make sure to order any cleaning products you may need in advance, such as oven cleaning products. Starting a week or two in advance gives you ample time to tackle each room thoroughly without feeling rushed. This includes gather all-purpose cleaner, glass cleaner, disinfectant, scrubbing brushes, sponges, microfibre cloths, mop, vacuum, and bin liners.

  • Schedule Services: If you require extra services, such as carpet and upholstery cleaning or steam cleaning, or even a full end of tenancy clean, make sure to schedule in advance.

  • Don’t Forget the Windows: Clean windows can make a significant difference in how the property looks. Make sure to clean both the inside and outside of the windows, along with the frames and sills. Steam cleaning can be particularly effective for this as the hot steam can easily destroy grime layer build up.

  • Clean the Appliances: Pay special attention to kitchen appliances.
